Nothing better than having the day off and getting to hang out with your friends! We had a nice group together for a x-c school at Carousel Park in Delaware. Kym, a CANTER volunteer, was riding her horse that she bought from CANTER MA trainer listings. Alison, on Top Punch, first x-c school and third time jumping. I was riding my greenie who has been out x-c four times now but only once with me.
Our main goal was to go slow and introduce everything slowly. I would say we achieved our goal if not more! My horse was beyond amazing today. I bought him as a resale but life always gets in the way of my plans and he has traveled around but I never do much with him. He is not a full-tb and sometimes that has meant he just has not seen everything that the race horses have. I was expecting him to be a bit silly but nope we were giving everyone leads multiple times and he was so relaxed he even thought it would be funny to stop, drop and roll on me. That provided some good laughs.
I could go on and on about Top Punch and I don’t even own him
He has jumped 2x prior today some basic x-rails in the ring. He happily trotted over any solid obstacle presented to him even scary black pipes and weird painted boxes.

He has been a bit relucant to go through water but give him a lead one time and he had it figured out!

The only thing that make him think all day was the ditch. He went the first time but put his feet in it scarying himself.

He walked over in hand and then went once she got back on. He was just not sure what to do with that big hole in the ground.
We had two extremes as far as greenies go today. Punch was green and just figuring out where his feet went while Kym’s horse showed off his extreme athletic ability. He can really jump and has some funny antics afterwards but she handled him easily and by the end he was as brave as could be.
Allergic to wood?

My boy leading the stream crossing. I think this is right after Kym almost knocked me off into the water when her guy jumped sideway into my guy. Funny!

My guy thought this was fun!

Attempting to give Punch a lead

The key to a successful schooling to take your time, keep it small, don’t leave anybody behind and stop on a good note. Can’t wait to do it again!
