Wow, cold enough to take your breathe away. I actually did ride the horse that I am rehabbing as he needs to walk on hard footing and I think the frozen riding ring falls nicely into that category.
I spent most of my weekend organizing paperwork and getting ready to file my taxes. I do try to stay fairly organized over the course of the year using the online software Rendaivu. I keep track of all the CANTER track visits and the CANTER horses that we haul from place to place. The software allows you to run reports so you can see your income and expenses. I don’t recommend ever doing that unless you have to as it sure makes me question my sanity
I would occasionally get up and lookout my dining room door and see what the horses were up to. I think some of these pictures will fill you in pretty well but it is just something that you have to see to believe and I found myelf calling Kurt over to watch and there we stood laughing. I would step outside and take a few pictures and then quickly go OMG it’s freezing and come back inside.
The first scene that played out was Diamond and Casey playing tug of blanket and biting each other on the hind legs. I sometimes think people wonder where I get all the money to buy these nice rambo blankets but one thing I realized early on with horses is that when you buy quality it will last and you really do need a war horse of a blanket to hold up to this sort of play!

I think Diamond eventually gave Casey a swift kick and Casey went off to eat hay. On my next break, I look out and see that Shoes and Diamond have now started up the next game which is the game of face biting. Shoes and Diamond arrived together and they were best friends. They are so happy to be back together and spend most of the day rough housing with each other and then with Casey.
Please please pretty please play with me

My funny face is way better than yours

Kisses lead to biting

Someone always has to cross the line and the other gets mad

A good roll always makes you feel better

Kills me with the cuteness. I can’t tell you how sweet he is and he just loves people. He is more like a big dog than a horse and he actually likes when I wrap my arms around him and give him a big hug.

Ranger is in the front of this picture in the blue and red rambo. He would like you to know that these other horses are stupid because there is gorgeous alfalfa orchard grass hay spread all around. Everytime I looked out there he was either eating or sleeping. He must conserve his energy

Casey and Ranger claim they are totally innocent and blame it on Shoes and Diamond.

I need to get some of these guys advertised but with the ground freezing and thawing I notice they are a bit tender on their feet. Hate winter but nothing you can do about it. Looks like it is supposed to warm up starting Tuesday but with rain??? So not funny!
Nothing cuter than happy horses
Love watching horses in a pasture, I miss that where I keep my horse now (no pasture). Although a LOT of the behavior is similar to bored kids in the back seat on a long road trip, it is hysterical to watch.
Barb- so true! I found myself opening up the door and yelling knock it off several times
Love my Horsewares, and I have the full gamut…from Amigos to Rhios to Rambos!!!!! Not only do they take a beating but they are really the only blanket that I have found that fits my OTTB without causing huge shoulder rubs! Well worth the $$$$
I left you an award on my blog! Love reading about your OTTBs.

you catch the essence of how wonderful horses are. Is that correct use of essence? You know what I mean
Does anyone think that the OTTB’s are EXtra gamey….????? They love the chew face game, always ending in rearing up and someone getting mad….mine have learned to face off across the fence line making for a less agressive breakoff…; then there is the bite the butt game…. usually someone gets kicked…. and horses version of giving a wedgy…. grab the other guys blanket and pull …. So I’m not the only one that yells out the backdoor to KNOCK IT OFF…… That’s good to know.
